Google Nexus 6P expected to get Android Oreo update on 11 september

According to an OS Upgrade list on Canadian website Rogers, the Huawei Google Nexus 6P is expected to get the Android Oreo update on 11 September.

The website has also listed the names of the phones that currently run on the Android Oreo. Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL recently received the update. The website also mentions that the date might change too.
Google also announced the roll out of the Android Oreo on the Nexus and Pixel devices in a tweet on the official Twitter handle. The twitter handle, in a previous tweet, mentioned the rolling out of the latest Android OS for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C tablet, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player.

There is no official update on the date of the Android OS coming to Nexus devices.
Android Oreo (8.0) features an ultra power saving mode, centralised media control, fingerprint-based user auto-switching, one-handed mode and a list showing the usage of the battery by different apps on the device. The new OS comes with much more, but these are just few of the attracting features that might attract the attention of users.

Google Launched the Nexus 6P in 2015. The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED display with a 2560x1440 resolution. It has a 2 GHz octa core processor and a 3,450 mAh battery. The device originally launched with a price tag of Rs 39,990 in India.

Researchers have developed an Alexa-like digital assistant for robots with the help of Artificial Intelligence

Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed an Alexa-like system that allows robots to understand a wide range of commands that require contextual knowledge about objects and their environment.

Alexa is Amazon's Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant that powers Echo smart speaker, provides capabilities, or skills that enable customers to interact with devices in a more intuitive way using voice.
Today's robots are still very limited in what they can do. They can be great for many repetitive tasks, but their inability to understand the nuances of human language makes them mostly useless for more complicated requests. For example, if you put a specific tool in a toolbox and ask a robot to "pick it up," it would be completely lost.
With the new system dubbed "ComText," for "commands in context", if someone tells the system that "the tool I put down is my tool," it adds that fact to its knowledge base. One can then update the robot with more information about other objects and have it execute a range of tasks like picking up different sets of objects based on different commands.
"Where humans understand the world as a collection of objects and people and abstract concepts, machines view it as pixels, point-clouds, and 3-D maps generated from sensors," said Rohan Paul from MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). "This semantic gap means that, for robots to understand what we want them to do, they need a much richer representation of what we do and say," Paul said in a statement released by MIT.
The team tested ComText on Baxter, a two-armed humanoid robot developed for Rethink Robotics by former CSAIL director Rodney Brooks. With ComText, Baxter was successful in executing the right command about 90 per cent of the time, according to a paper presented at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) in Australia.
In the future, the team hopes to enable robots to understand more complicated information, such as multi-step commands, the intent of actions, and using properties about objects to interact with them more naturally.
For example, if you tell a robot that one box on a table has crackers, and one box has sugar, and then ask the robot to "pick up the snack," the hope is that the robot could deduce that sugar is a raw material and therefore unlikely to be somebody's "snack."
The researchers believe that by creating much less constrained interactions, this line of research could enable better communications for a range of robotic systems, from self-driving cars to household helpers.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 likely to come with Snapdragon 836, Android Oreo 8.0 and 4,400 mAh battery

Xiaomi will launch its much awaited Mi Mix 2 at a launch event on 11 September 2017. Mi Mix 2 one of the most awaited smartphones in 2017 as it is likely to improve on its nearly ‘bezel-less’ design that Xiaomi showed off with the Xiaomi Mi Mix last year.

This design caught the fancy of smartphone makers across the globe and most companies are busy copying the ‘bezel-less’ design in their flagships. This is not limited to Android device makers like Samsung, LG or HTC but according to rumours and leaks, Apple will also adapt the bezel-less design in its upcoming flagship.
According to a report by GSMArena, alleged leaked images of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 hint that the smartphone may run Android Oreo 8.0 while being powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 836. Other details point towards a 6.2-inch screen with a 2960x1440 pixel resolution along with 3D facial recognition and 4,400 mAh battery. The screenshots also hint that Xiaomi will launch 256 Gb internal storage variant.
The leaked images seem to be originated from Chinese microblogging website points towards a redesigned settings interface, more likely in the ‘About Phone’ section of the phone where you will find almost everything related to the phone. This comes days after it was reported that Mi Mix 2 will come with a 3D-face scanning technology, MIUI 9, dual camera setup along with a curved AMOLED display.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is likely to be an improvement over the Mi Mix 1 as the first generation of the smartphone packed a 6.4-inch display with an edge to edge design, meaning there are no bezels at the top and sides.

Mi Mix 1 packed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset (Daydream compatible) with 4GB/6GB RAM and is available in both 128GB and 256GB options. It came with a 16MP PDAF rear camera and 5MP front facing camera. Apart from the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, there was also full NFC functionality with a high-precision GPS module.

In our last article, we gave you a look at some of the most significant film cameras of history. While reading up on ideas for this article, a friend summed up the state of the photography industry in a simple line: digital cameras are purely clinical, precise instruments compared to film cameras: a mechanical form of art.

Digital cameras indeed don’t have the charm that film cameras once harboured in their day. But they’re an art form of a different kind: the precision and speed at which digital could deliver was and is still unparalleled. Today, we’ll be looking at some of the journey of digital cameras to this day, with a peek at some of the more noteworthy models out there.
1. Kodak’s first camera prototype
As always, the very first invention of something will never look like its current iteration. That couldn’t be more apparent in the case of Kodak’s first “camera”. It used a 100x100 pixel array to capture light and record it to a tape cassette.

If you wanted to see the picture, you had to play it back on a television with a special player (similar to audio cassettes). That first camera was made with spare items the makers found in their labs: the lens was from a cinema camera, the sensor was a CCD sensor and the whole thing ran on 16 batteries. According to PetaPixel, each image took around 23 seconds to process!
2. Nikon D1 
When the D1 was launched in 2000, SLR cameras were not a new thing. Kodak already had a major share in the camera market and they continued to do so until the Nikon D1 came around and shook it. The D1 is one of the first DSLR cameras designed and produced entirely by Nikon from the ground up, which obviously involved a lot of effort. It housed a 3 MP sensor, could shoot at 4.5 fps (which was great for sports shooting.. Back then) and something more unusual: ditching Adobe RGB and sRGB and going for a color space known as NSTC, which wasn’t what most cameras used. However, it changed the industry anyway, being a camera that was far more affordable than what Kodak was selling at the time, and therefore being a game changer in its own league.

3. Contax N Digital
The Contax N Digital is a far leap from that first Kodak. It was introduced in 2002, nearly 26 years after the Kodak concept. Twenty-six years was enough for cameras to involve into mainstream consumer products by then, but the N Digital stepped up the game a notch: it was the first Full-Frame DSLR camera in the consumer market. Sporting a 6 MP 35mm equivalent sensor, the full frame sensor meant that people could now take higher quality prints without having to compensate for the crop factor.

While SLR and DSLR cameras were already fast becoming a more viable option for consumers, this was the first sensor that housed a full 35mm sized sensor in it. The N Digital was also among the only manufacturers to still use CCD-based sensors (CCD: Charge Coupled Device) when everyone was already moving to CMOS based sensors.
4. Minolta DiMAGE A1
The Minolta A1 changed the world of shaky images forever: it was the first camera to have two-axis image stabilisation. Two-axis meant that the X-axis, or horizontal shake, and Y-axis, or vertical shake, were reduced.

The whole system worked with sensors: motion sensors captured any shake made by the user and transferred it to the CCD where the shake was compensated for. Apart from that, the Minolta A1 is also one the older cameras that used a CCD sensor and also let users switch off image stabilisation if they wanted to (in case they were shooting on a tripod, the IS would just be redundant and waste battery).
5. Canon EOS D30
The EOS D30 is truly the game changer in this roundup for a very small reason: it was the first prosumer DLSR that people could buy without breaking their wallets. Like the Nikon D1, the Canon D30 was Canon’s first home-grown DSLR (as in, designed and built from the ground up by Canon) and catered to a market that wanted a powerful imaging device but couldn’t shell out the big bucks for professional systems.

Indeed, the D30 and similar devices can be considered the beginning of the prosumer era, and the point where cameras started getting more and more affordable. They don’t hold a candle to today’s systems, even entry level ones, but the D30, in particular, was a king in its own right back in the day, because everyone could buy it.

Facebook Watch Video Platform Now Rolling Out to All Users in the US



Facebook launched its Watch video service to US users on Thursday with plans to allow people to submit shows, as the No. 1 social media network vies with Alphabet Inc's YouTube for advertising revenue.
Advertisers are shifting more of their budgets from television to online as viewers have migrated to watching shows on smartphones and tablets.
On Watch, which Facebook began testing earlier this month, users can see hundreds of shows from the likes of Vox, Buzzfeed, Discovery Communications Inc, A&E Networks, Walt Disney Co's ABC, as well as live sports like Major League Baseball.
Americans spend more than 73 minutes a day watching digital video, up more than 7 percent from last year, according to eMarketer data. TV watching has dropped 2 percent from last year to 244 minutes a day, a trend that is expected to continue.
Facebook is initially paying some content creators for shows to drive interest. The company is paying $10,000-$35,000 for shorter form shows and up to $250,000 (roughly Rs. 1.6 crores) for longer shows, sources told Reuters in May.
The company declined to comment on how much it was spending on shows.
Facebook does not intend to make buying content a core piece of its strategy, Dan Rose, vice president of partnerships at Facebook, told Reuters.
"We are not focused on acquiring exclusive rights," he said. "The idea is to seed this with good content."
Facebook plans to eventually open the platform to everyone to submit shows for approval and share 55 percent of ad revenue, Rose said.
The company is testing how ads will work within the shows, he added.
Watch should help Facebook solidify its position alongside YouTube, the leader in the digital video space, for advertisers, said Paul Verna, a senior analyst with eMarketer.
Facebook said Watch is more personal and community-oriented than competitors. For example, it can suggest shows based on a user's interests and friends can share their thoughts as they watch a video.
For example, fans of the exercise program CrossFit can watch and share commentary on live CrossFit events streamed on Facebook while chatting in groups, Rose said.
Similarly, fans of Spanish soccer can watch and chat online about Hala Madrid, a show about Real Madrid.
"We think our unique opportunity is around community and engaging with people on topics they love to talk about," said Rose.

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone Edition to Launch on September 12: Report



Apple has officially sent out invites for its event on September 12, and for the first time, it will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus. The Cupertino giant is widely expected to launch the three new iPhone models this year, along with the Apple Watch as well. The three new iPhone models have been largely rumoured to be called iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and iPhone 8 - with the iPhone 8 being the anniversary edition iPhone bringing significant changes, and the former two being iterative updates. However, a fresh report claims that the three new iPhones will be called iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone Edition - with the latter being the anniversary iPhone.
9to5Mac's Seth Weintraub cites reliable and popular casemaker sources to claim that the three 2017 iPhones will be named iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone Edition. He claims to have seen one very popular casemaker's updated packaging artwork as well. The casemaker has even changed its internal SKUs based on the new information received straight from Shenzhen it seems.
The other has begun making sticker labels for the new iPhones based on the new information, and has been showing it off to retail partners in private. Weintraub claims that both these casemakers are very well-known names, with one brand even being carried on the Apple Store.
These sources also claim that the iPhone Edition will sport rear glass casing, stainless steel chassis, and a bezel-less display (with the notch on top for sensors). The sources also claim that iPhone Edition will support Qi wireless charging, and will be compatible with all current Qi chargers. The sources claim that the iPhones will sport a Lightning port, but a switch to USB-C in the near future is expected. Furthermore, the report claims that the iPhone Edition will sport facial recognition replacing Touch ID.
While the name iPhone Edition has cropped up in earlier reports as well, the iterative updates were conventionally assumed to be iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus only. With this fresh information now coming in and that too with the event being so near, we can't help but let this leak hold some weight.
A separate Korea Herald report claims that 2018 iPhones will be launched in two sizes, with the bigger one being the largest display iPhone made by Apple. The report cites sources at Samsung Display to suggest that the next year's iPhone will come in two sizes: one at 5.85-inch with the display size the same as iPhone 8, and the 'Plus' one being at a huge 6.46-inch in form size. The report also claims that this decision was driven largely by consumer demand and tech advancements.
For now, let's focus on the upcoming Apple event and the big bang anniversary iPhone that it is expected to bring along.

Record $5,000 Bitcoin Price Triggers $13 Billion Market Sell-Off



The bitcoin price touched $5,000 this morning, ushering in a historic moment for the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Unfortunately, this achievement also triggered off a comprehensive market sell-off. Almost every major cryptocurrency–including ethereum, Ripple, and IOTA–experienced significant price decreases.




The sell-off led to a significant crypto market cap pullback. At the height of the rally, the total value of all cryptocurrencies reached $179.7 billion–a new all-time high. However, nearly $13 billion of that has evaporated in the past 12 hours, bringing the current market cap to about $167 billion.



Bitcoin Price Hits $5,000, then Dives

The bitcoin price crossed the $5,000 threshold on several exchanges during the early morning hours of September 2, raising the global average price to an all-time high of $4,975. Unfortunately, the bitcoin price did not sustain that level for long. By 3:30 UTC, the bitcoin price had fallen to $4,800. Within another three hours, it had plunged to $4,625. Bitcoin rallied back to $4,775, but the upward momentum did not continue. By the time of writing, the bitcoin price had dropped to $4,630, which translates to a $76.6 billion market cap.

Ethereum Price Rally Stalls

The bitcoin sell-off led to a widespread market pullback, and the ethereum price was not immune. For most of September 1, the ethereum price hovered at about $390. But once bitcoin began to fall, ethereum followed. The ethereum price plunged as low as $352 at 6:00 UTC and currently sits at $357. This reduced ethereum’s market cap to $33.7 billion–a 24-hour decline of 8%.

Litecoin Price Reaches $92 for New ATH

The altcoin markets turned red following the bitcoin sell-off, and only three top 25 cryptocurrencies made positive movement for the day.
After inching back to $600 yesterday, the bitcoin cash price dropped to $591. The Ripple price mirrored ethereum’s plight, dropping 8% to $0.231.
Litecoin was one of the rare coins with a 24-hour price increase. The litecoin price increased 6% to $80. During the past day, only bitcoin boasted a trading volume greater than litecoin’s $1.7 billion.
However, what this statistic conceals is the fact that the litecoin price had actually risen to a new all-time high of $92 this morning, meaning that it has dropped $12 from its daily peak. Litecoin now has a market cap greater than $4.2 billion.
The NEM price fell 5% but maintained a slight market cap edge on Dash, which returned a 6% decline. The Monero price, meanwhile, fell 8%, forcing its market cap below $2 billion. Tenth-ranked IOTA had the worst performance of any top 10 coin, plunging 20% to $0.678.
Aside from litecoin, only two top 25 cryptocurrencies increased in value over the past 24 hours. Ethereum classic, now ranked 9th, grew 3% to $20 as part of its latter-week rally. NEO, which recently dropped out of the top 10 following a steep decline, managed to defy the wider markets and rise 5% to $33.

Bitcoin Dominance Stable for Week

Bitcoin’s slice of the total crypto market cap ended the week at 45.8%, which is just slightly below where it began. Ethereum’s share had swelled during the middle of the week but had tapered to 20.1% by Saturday. Litecoin recorded the week’s most significant gains, rising from 1.7% on August 26 to 2.5% on September 2.
As the distribution currently stands, bitcoin cash and Ripple account for 5.9% and 5.3%, respectively. The remaining ~20% is divided between the other 1,000 or so coins and assets tracked by CoinMarketCap

The agency is going after vendors and merchants on the grounds they are selling bitcoin (BTC) as “illegal money transmitters.” However, the Bitcoin (BTC) Foundation said bitcoin (BTC) is not money, at least not how Senate Bill 1241 is defining it. The Bitcoin (BTC) Foundation also took issue with the fact government believes terrorism is being financed by crypto.
